Biography

Hichem Guergouri is a dedicated researcher in the fields of physics and astrophysics. With a passion for science that began at a young age, he has made significant contributions to both research and science education. Currently, he works as a permanent researcher at the Research Unit in Scientific Culture and Mediation - CERIST in Constantine.

Professional Experience

  • Alpha Detector Project - ATLAS - CERN: Participated as a summer student, gaining invaluable experience in high-energy physics research.
  • Teaching: Worked as a temporary teacher at ENS-Constantine, teaching physics and astrophysics.
  • Current Position: Permanent researcher at the Research Unit in Scientific Culture and Mediation - CERIST, Constantine.

Science Outreach and Education

  • Early Involvement: Joined Sirius Astronomy Association at the age of 12.
  • Outreach Projects: Participated in numerous outreach projects, including APODAR, the Arabic translation of NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).
  • Constantine Planetarium: Served as an animator and the responsible figure, organizing educational programs and activities.
  • World Space Week Coordinator for Algeria: Currently promotes space education and fosters a love for science among people of all ages.

Projects

  • VASCO Project: Investigating vanishing and appearing sources during a century of observations to identify new phenomena in the sky.
  • Cosmology Project: Studying the large-scale structure of the universe and the fundamental questions about its origin, evolution, and eventual fate.
  • Solar Activity Monitoring: Following and analyzing the sun's activity during the 25th solar cycle to understand solar dynamics and its impact on space weather.
